Furniture Education

This section covers the proper guidelines for purchasing furniture. We will cover topics such as construction, confort and lifestype. You will also learn to look for high quality frames, springs and cushions.

What to Look for in Quality Furniture

First, you should look for a reputable manufacturer. Intermountain Furniture Manufacturing Company has been producing quality furniture since 1928. The company has been managed and operated by the same family since its inceptions, and is one of the oldest and most stable furniture manufacturers in the United States.

The second thing you should look for in a quality piece of furniture is a hardwood frame. Our furniture frames are among the strongest, most overbuilt frames in the industry. We use corner-blocking, safety-blocking, staples, glues, and placement dowel joints on all our furniture frames.

Next, look for a good spring system, and finally, high-quality foam and fiber. Our suspension systems include eight-way hand tie, eight-way machine tie, and sinuous spring construction. We use high-density cushions that exceed all industry standards. The entire cushion is wrapped in 2000 Superplush material, a superior hollow-fiber filling material that ensures shape retention and comforable seating for years to come. Cushion backs and pillows are filled with 2000 Superplush as well, adding longevity and memory. We use only the best fabrics in each grade. All of our fabrics must pass a double-rub abrasion test. A half-inch seam allowance and seven stitches per inch are used on all sewn pieces, exceeding the industry standards by 16 percent.

Look for the highest quality of construction and materials that you can afford. That is how you get the best value for your furniture dollar.

How to Find Comfortable Furniture

The elements of comfort are seat depth, back height and angle, arm height, fabric texture, and weave. In modern furniture construction, foam cushions and padding soften with age. You should look for furniture that will fit your lifestyle. A family room may need a more durable, comforatble piece of furniture, while the formal room may need a more traditional look and feel. Your selection of furniture should fit your comfort and lifestyle needs.

How to Make Your Furniture Last

To help make your furniture last do the following on a monthly basis or whenever applicable. Rotate cushions and move the furniture around the house so you are not always sitting in the same place. Keep upholstery clean, as dirt can prematurely wear fabric. Always keep your furniture away from direct sunlight. Sunlight can fade colors and break down fabrics very quickly.
